Inaugural Summit Explores Strategic Workforce Management
The Human Capital Institute will hold its first annual Human Capital Summit Conference and Expo on April 6 and 7 in Chicago, with pre-conference workshops on Wednesday, April 6. The Summit is for human capital professionals, line managers and executives, and it focuses on strategic workforce management as a key driver of organizational and business success.
Featured speakers include Dr. Richard Florida, who will headline the Summit with his presentation "Competing with Creatives in the Age of Uncertainty," a session that will explore the relationship between creative knowledge workers and success in a global economy. Dr. John Sullivan, recruiting expert, professor, and author, will speak on "Referral Systems and Social Networks that Deliver Top Talent," a session focused on best practices in employee referral and networking.
Noel M. Tichy, Ph.D., Professor of Organizational Behavior and HR Management at the University of Michigan Ross School of Business closes the conference with a presentation entitled "Judgment - The Essence of Leadership."

Recognition Event Features Idea Sharing
The National Association of Employee Recognition (N.A.E.R.) Annual Sharing Conference takes place April 30 to May 3 in Naples, Fla. and features sessions, exhibitors and keynote presentations. Headline speakers include Roger Crawford on the "Power of Possibility" and a presentation entitled "The Simple Truths of Service" by Barbara Glanz. An executiveÕs viewpoint on recognition programs will come from Andrew Balbirer, executive vice president and chief financial officer, CCC Information Services Inc. Bob Nelson, Ph.D., of Nelson Motivation, takes a new view on recognition with "1001 Ways to Reward Customers."
The conference also features pre-conference education and the opportunity take the first course in the Certified Recognition Professional (CRP) curriculum. The one-day program, "Structuring Recognition for Success," features methodologies and tools to support the knowledge and skills embodied in N.A.E.R.Õs Best Practices Standards.
Exhibits include the "World of Recognition Ideas," which features new products and vendor services. Attendees may also participate in the Recognition Fair, which features "recognition boards" set up by attendees displaying the tools and ideas that are working for their organizations.

Conference Features Rewards, Compensation Strategies
The 2006 WorldatWork Total Rewards Conference and Exhibition takes place May 7 Ð 10 in Anaheim, Calif., and features sessions and events on total rewards, compensation, benefits, executive rewards and work-life effectiveness. Attendees will have opportunities to network with other professionals and share challenges, questions and interests.
The exhibit hall features more than 160 exhibitors who will demonstrate products and services. In addition, the conference offers professional development through pre-conference educational opportunities, such as WorldatWork Certification preparation courses or exams.
Keynote presentations include Jason Jennings who will discuss "The Six Traits of the World's Most Successful and Productive Companies." John Alston, author of Stuff Happens (and then you fix it!) and founder of the Stress Management Institute of America, delivers a presentation designed to uplift and empower participants with a new set of skills and techniques for managing change.

Training Excellence, Measurement Tops Agenda at ASTD
The American Society for Training and Development International Conference and Expo takes place May 7 Ð 10 in Dallas. The conference is based on the theme "Think Bigger," and features a presentation by Jack Welch, General ElectricÕs former chairman and CEO. "The Speed of Trust: 13 Behaviors of Trusted Leaders," is presented by Stephen Covey, and focuses on how trust can help develop strong business relationships.
"How Top Companies Invest in Human Capital," presented by Jac Fitz-enz, Ph.D., covers research on the companies listed as Fortune magazineÕs "Most Admired Companies" and those on the "100 Best Companies to Work For" list. Analysis of their investments in human capital and how they drive business results will be discussed.
The conference features approximately 300 exhibitors displaying the latest in training and executive education products and services.
