Bullying in the Workplace

Today’s workforce is faced with challenging situations every day – difficult encounters that can quickly escalate and put visitors, guests and co-workers at risk. After 25 years of success, CPI continues to be the worldwide leader in violence prevention and crisis intervention training, with more than five million people across the globe trained in CPI's Nonviolent Crisis Intervention training. CPI’s PrepareTraining® program is uniquely tailored to the needs of private sector employers, providing the most dynamic solution for building a positive, supportive and respectful workplace culture. Terri Howard’s presentation will cover the following topics:

  • “Top Tips For a Safer, More Productive Workplace” – The cornerstone for a safer work environment is developing a respectful, supportive workplace culture. Terri Howard will offer insight into the proven methods and tactics that create a positive environment, and illustrate ways to prevent and resolve potential crisis situations.
  • “Workplace Bullying An Alarming Trend” – More than 45 percent of American workers have experienced workplace abuse, according to a March 2007 study by the Employment Law Alliance. Terri Howard will offer listeners a behind-the-scenes look at this alarming trend and offer tips for identifying, preventing and resolving bullying in the workplace.
  • “Workplace Safety Offers Return On Investment” – According to business executive polls, there is an average return on investment of $3 for every $1 spent in improving workplace safety, and a single episode of workplace violence can cost more than $250,000 in lost time and legal expenses, according to the International Labor Organization. Terri Howard will offer insight on the strategic and financial impact of implementing workforce training programs.
  • “New Federal Law Promotes Workplace Safety” -- H.R. 1: Improving America's Security Act of 2007 recently passed Congress and was signed into law by President Bush, The law includes new guidance on private sector preparedness intended to encourage organizations to participate in voluntary crisis prevention programs. The law reflects a growing awareness of the benefits of this training, not only to national preparedness, but to the bottom line, and created an increased interest in the PrepareTraining program.
