Big Changes for Electrical Safety: What You Need to Know about the New Edition of NFPA 70E

|
The 2009 edition of NFPA 70E includes important changes that require many companies to change the way
they handle electrical safety. These changes affect labels on equipment, Arc-Flash hazard analyses, required personal protective
equipment (PPE), how the protection boundary is calculated, and training requirements. No longer will it be possible to get away
with postponing a full Arc-Flash hazard analysis until some unspecified future date, nor to leave panels unlabeled under the
assumption that no one will ever work on them while they’re energized. This audio conference will explain these changes and how
to respond to them.

Learning Objectives:
- How the requirements for warning labels have changed, and why an Arc-Flash hazard analysis may be required to create compliant labels.
- Changes to the “Table Method” for calculating Hazard Risk Categories.
- How current-limiting fuses may reduce Hazard Risk Categories.
- New rules about what workers must wear before working on electrical equipment.
- The new method of calculating Flash Protection Boundaries.
