This is a back-to-basics approach, which produces reductions of incidents and costs. This approach requires both management and employee participation, and understanding of the process.

Chuck Borman is a safety professional with over 20 years of experience in a variety of industries. On a consistent basis, he has significantly reduced incident rates and workers compensation costs for organizations. Prior to joining Safety Management Solutions, he was the Corporate Safety Manager for a leading food manufacturing corporation. Mr. Borman led the safety strategic-planning process and provided high-level counsel and guidance on regulatory issues. He was able to transform the safety and health culture through training and program implementation, targeting all levels and functions within the organization. Mr. Borman also was critical in developing best practices for safety management systems, regulatory compliance and claims management.
During his time with the Food Manufacturer, nine out of the fourteen manufacturing locations worked in excess of one million hours without a lost-time incident. During 2005, eight of the fourteen plants did not have a lost-time incident even though the division was restructuring and in the process of closing two locations. Overall, the organization reduced recordable cases by 15 per cent, DART cases by 64 per cent, and workers compensation costs by 46 per cent.
From 1998 to 2002, he was the National Accounts Manager of Occupational Safety and Health for the National Safety Council. He provided consultation and managed consultative services to large Fortune 500 corporations in a wide variety of industries. Mr. Borman developed, implemented and presented training from the executive to the hourly level for key accounts.
In 1990, Mr. Borman joined Kemper Insurance. While there, he rose to the position of National Account Manager. In that role, he led a service team comprised of representatives from Underwriting, Claims, Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Ergonomics, Information Technology, Case Management and Special Investigations for National Accounts. Prior to this position, he acted as a Technical Services Account Manager and consultant for Kemper client Fortune 500 corporations.
Chuck has provided safety services to many leading organizations including UAW/General Motors, UAW/Delphi, Honda, Johnson Controls, Coca-Cola, PepsiCo, ABB, GTE, AT&T, Hasbro, Eaton, Baxter, United Technologies, United States Postal Service and Hanson Industries.
Chuck's major accomplishments include participating in a Blue Chip panel to review the Department of Defense for Donald Rumsfeld and assisting in the development of the NSC’s “Safety Management Leadership” seminar.
